In the Crafting mood!

Okay, so I've been having fun creating some new things and I wanted to share what I've done. I did some of these things for my Laurals. Super fun and I think I went a little crazy with some of them.

These are some broaches that you can wear in your hair or on your shirt.

Then I learned how to crochet these flowers! They were so much fun and so easy that I could stop making them in all sorts of colors! haha

Then I decided they would be fun to wear on your wrist!! So I made these cute wrist ones.

Then the Laurals wanted to make some things for their lockers. So we made Magnets and note pads . They turned out super cute.

Busy Crazy Summer

Ok, so I haven't posted anything new in a while. Its been a busy, crazy summer! With Graduations, Girls Camp, a Wedding, Youth Conference, a Missionary farewell, cheer carpooling and squeezing in a little bit of camping! Kate started school and Tae started cheer. I'm exhausted. Oh, and our Golden Retriever had 7 puppies in the middle of this, so trying to get them sold as well. And did I mention I work as well! hahahaha! Well now maybe I can enjoy a little bit of summertime with my own family before school starts. Oh wait! school starts in about 4 weeks! Better hurry! This summer has flown by!

WE waited a long time for this! We were so excited to be able to have our brother go through the temple. What an amazing night this was. WE love you so much Mike and so glad that we where all able to be there with you!! And of course we have to have pictures! I'm not a very good photographer cause I don't think the temple is suppose to be green. lol I'll work on it.

February Fun

Ok so I had to share this moment, Dave finally let Brittney cut his hair. Yes, this is the 1st time he has let her cut his hair. She was pretty excited to do it. It looked great! He was so scared, he kept his eyes closed. haha, just kidding.

I was in this crazy baking mood. I wanted to make "A" fun treat for an activity with the YW and YM in our ward. I ended up making several things because I couldn't decide which one. I only got a picture of the cupcakes, dang. They turned out pretty good. I also did mini cheesecakes and chocolate cookies. YUM!

Christmas 2010

I just wanted to share some great pictures from all the family parties at Christmas Time. What a great blessing I have to be able to have such a wonderful family and to be able to spend time with all of them. I have the best family in the world!!

Definitly Not Camera Shy!

One thing for sure! Our family is not camera shy! One of our favorite things to do when we get together is to take silly pictures. The latest was at Thanksgiving. I think we have more fun taking fun pictures then anything else. We had a fabulous Thanksgiving Dinner this year. All 33 of us! All of us in Grandma and Grandpa's house! So fun. Grandma and Grandpa had a great dinner for us. Then all 33 of us went to the movies. We came back had pie, laughed, took more pic's, played games, laughed again, checked out the store adds, then went shopping in the morning.

The Mock Disater!

So Dave and I participated in a CERT Course and for the final class they held a mock disater. Family members were invited to participate as victims. So here is Taelor and her friend Maddie. I have to admit it look pretty real! The fire department set up a building to make it look like there had been a earthquake, and the girls were caught in the earthquake. The girls had fun. It was quite the eye opener as to what could happen. I hope that we never have to deal with one but, its nice to know that we can help out if it does.

I can't believe my little girl is no longer a little girl. November 7th she became a teenager!!!! 13! Where has the time gone? No more primary, little girl parties etc. Hello cell phone, boys, makeup, boys and boys. We love you Taelor! Happy Birthday Tator tot!

Halloween Party Time

We have the funnest, family Halloween parties ever! Everyone dresses up and has fun!! We always have so much food and treats galore!! This year Heather was incharge and we did minute to winit games. My team won, hahah. Thanks Heather. The kids got a pinata, chuck full of candy. Thanks grandma and grandpa.

Elder Florek homecoming!

Our cute nephew Alex came home from his mission this summer. He served in Mozembic, Africa! He had quite a trip getting home. His suit was stolen, his bus broke down and he had quite the layovers. We are so happy to have him home.

First Day of School

It is so weird to only have 1 daughter going back to school. Taelor started 7th grade this year! And she also started a lot of other things as well. She is on the 7th grade cheer squad, she joined the tennis club, she is doing volleyball and drama! oh, and taking piano lessons. She is so excited for this new year and trying all this new stuff.

Swiss Days

Ok, so its been awhile since I have written on my blog. I wanted to share one of favorite events. Swiss Days Weekend with my sisters and mother!!! I love getting together with my awesome family. We had a great time. We actually do a lot in just 24 hours. We went up to Heber City for Swiss Days, shopped at the outlet stores in Park City, went to dinner, stayed up till 1:00am playing cards and laughed til we cried!, went to Gardiner Village, shopped at Tai Pan, then saw a movie! What a great time! I have the best family ever!! (REALLY missed you Lana!)

Girls Camp

Girls camp was awesome this year. We got to go up to the church camp ground in Heber. It was perfect. We were there for the first week of the season. We also got to be there for the presentation of the new value, virtue. Sister Dalton came and spoke to the girls. There were 2,300 girls at this program and we got front row seats!! She spoke to the girls about the new value, virtue and how it came to be. Then they unveiled the new flag. Sis. Dalton has so much love for the yw. Really cool.

There was a volleyball compitition between wards. We were awesome. We took 2nd place. It would have been 1st if the other ward didn't have 4 leaders playing. Oh well, the girls had way fun!

The challenge course was a lot of fun. Kate showing how fun it was. And yes I was up there Too! It was scary but so fun. This was Katie's last girls camp so she was really having a great time.

The view from the hike we took was incredible! We saw alot of deer and we had 2 huge moose come right through our cabin area, so awesome.

Fun things have been happing

Ok, ok, I know its been a while since I have posted anything. Life has just been busy, and don't you just hate it when you FORGET YOUR CAMERA!!! Here are a few of the things that I remembered to take my camera to.

We had a great Easter party at my house. We had everyone there! It was great. We had lots of food and did easter egg hunts with prizes for the kids. I think we had a total of 30 people in our house. In the past we have always gone to grandma and grandpas church to have the party. We decided to be different this year.

We then threw a baby shower for our sis Tami That was fun. She is having a girl and we all can't wait for that baby to get here!!! We are all so excited. She got some fun things then the next day she went back up to Washington. We won't see her again until the baby gets here.

Taelor got to participate in a really cool event. All the fifth grade students in the school district were able to get together for a program at the Marriott Center at BYU. It was called Hope of America. They sat together to form a flag, which was way cool, and sang songs. There was other dancing and performances from other groups. Lots of fun.

Kate also had a really great program at her school. Her dance group performed with some other groups. She was able to be the choreogragher for a couple of the dances. I was great. I of course FORGOT MY CAMERA.

Then we had Megan's birthday yesterday. A big 19!!!! yea Meg. She also shares her birthday with her uncle Brent and cousin Alex. Happy Birthday guys.

Hawaii Trip

Once again we HAD to go to the beautiful island of Maui! lol
It is always so much work to get ready for a trip, especially when you are going without kids. This was the first time we have left them by themselves. Scary!!! You want to make sure they have enough to eat and clean clothes. You clean the house and lay down all the laws. You make sure everybody knows what to do for the week and that they have emergency numbers. It all went great. I was very proud of them. Tae only called us 3 times a day. (hee hee)
We had a great time. This was a very relaxing trip. This was the first time that we have gone and just relaxed. Harmans always puts as up at the most beautiful resorts. Our room faced the ocean and in the evenings you could see the whales. Pretty cool. We did a lot of laying by the pool and ocean. It felt weird to not have to do anything. We walked down to the old towns and did some shopping, or should say I did some shopping. Big D's a good sport. I got to read, which I never get a chance to at home. We also attended a luau, lots of fun.
We went to church while we were there. It was so nice. The people there were so welcoming, where else can you go and be greeted with a loud "Aloha" at the beginning of sacrament meeting, It was great.

A week of school events

A couple of fun things went on last week. First Tae had a big event going on at her school. The 5th grade did a wax museum. This was something she had looked forward to all year. The kids had to pick a hero and really learn and study about them. Tae wanted to be Emila Erheart. Then on Wed night they dressed up as this hero, brought props and turned there classrooms into a museum. It was very fun. The kids had to hold very still like they were made of wax while the visitors walked through. Each kid had a pretend button on their display that you could push and hear them say a famous quote or saying from that hero.

She was so cute. Her dad helped her make a airplane out of boxes and
she sat inside trying not to smile.

Kaitlin had a good week too. There were try outs for the dance team at school, Dance Company. She made the team. She was so excited. Then there was the Valentines dance at the end of the week. She went with a really nice guy and had a lot of fun.

Florek Christmas Tradition

I wanted to share with you a fun Christmas tradition we do with the Florek side of the family. Each year for the past 10 years or so, we get together a week before Christmas and meet for pizza and bowling. Its probably the one and only time of the year we bowl. Its alot of fun.
For presents ,we all draw names earlier in the month and each spend about 5 to 10 dollars each. The added twist we added was, the present also had to start with the first letter of their name.
Its been fun to see what each other comes up with. You never know what your going to get!

Birthday and Temple Trip

I took my girls through the Draper Temple last last Friday. Loved it. It is a very beautiful temple with beautiful murals. It is very different then any other temple I have been in.We are so lucky to have all these temples so close to visit as often as we like. If you get the chance to go through this temple, go. Its awesome. Before you go through it, you meet at a church and watch a short video about temples and the city of Draper. In the video they showed a picture of my great-great-great-(not sure how many greats)grandparents. They settled the city of Draper. It was kind of cool to see that. I recognized the pictures from my mothers books she has. I then got to go with our youth last Wednesday. Lots of fun. I loved seeing there faces when they saw how beautiful it was inside. The girls loved the brides room and celestial room. They said the brides room makes them feel like a princess, which of course they are.

This is a shot before we left. They are a fun group, and Kate and I at the reception they have after you exit the temple. It was cool. They have lots of cookies and drinks for everyone and beautiful displays of temples and other church things. You should go if you haven't already!!!

It was Skyler's birthday last Sunday. Can't believe he is 22. We had a family party for him on Monday. He kept saying how birthdays aren't as fun when you get older. Funny huh? The Fiso's came over and we had his favorite meal. (which are very few) and after the Fiso's left I realized I forgot to take pictures so we took some after. It was like torturing him.

Crazy Week

Ok, so this has been a very very busy week. First of all we had new beginnings last Wednesday night. It turned out pretty darn good. I have a great personal progress leader who made the night amazing and of course we had 2 choc. fountains. If you need a new beginnings idea let me know. Second my work thinks I should be a supervisor and they have been training we all week. Then I had to help with my works inventory which took most of the day on wednesday. I had a yw recognition dinner to do with the stake. I had 2 talks to prepare. Then 2 children (who will remain nameless)giving me grieve this week. Then today we went to the Draper Temple open house. I am exhausted!!! And can you believe I did not take one single picture!!! I'm so mad.

Our New Katie

I have to tell you about our new dog, Katie. Yes Katie, that is the name she came with. She is our fun new golden retriever. She just turned 1 this month. We have had so much fun with her. She has so much energy and love. She will come put her head in your lap when she needs a love. She LOVES to play fetch with you anywhere, the backyard, the park, the living room, the bedroom any where. She is pretty obedient. We're still working on it. She has become kind of spoiled. She has a bed in our room and every night she comes into the bedroom and lays down on her bed to sleep. Katie loves to play with our cat. They play pretty well together. The cat will let her know when she has had enough though. Some days it gets pretty crazy in the house when Katie gets excited and runs then the cat starts running and Tucker, our other small dog starts barking and the kids start chasing them. Crazy but fun. New Tradition

I thought I'd start a new tradition. Instead of sending Christmas greetings (Christmas cards), I am going to send Happy New Year Greetings! It gets so incredibly crazy that I just don't get the time to write and send Christmas cards like I want to. So, Happy New Year!! I hope you have all found time to enjoy the holiday season in all its true glory. There were so many chores, so much shopping, so much decorating, so much cooking, phone calling, visiting, wrapping, an on and on. Making Christ the center of this past Christmas seems like an elusive dream. But we were able to find Him in some little ways. So I just wanted to share with you a few things we did to help remind us of our Savior in the middle of the worldly Christmas rush:

We hummed or sang Christmas songs in the car.
Helped a child prepare a nice surprise for a neighbor or sibling.
Enjoyed a little Christmas treat, even if we we're dieting -again!
Secretly did something nice for someone.
Watched a classic Christmas show.
Displayed nativities in our home.
Read Christmas stories
Displayed the Christmas letters and cards we received from family & friends
In our prayers we said more "thank yous" and less "please".
Read Luke 2 with our family.
We told our family members and friends that we love them.

I have been trying to get a family picture for months now and it is just impossible!! I wanted to do a family picture for our Christmas cards this year, IMPOSSIBLE!! Somebody is either working or at school or at a meeting or just out with friends. So I've just decided to take individual pictures and put them on a card. Boring but, oh well!
